FJK Dance GALA

  • Gibney Dance Center 53 chambers Street New York, NY United States (map)

YOU ARE INVITED!

Join FJK Dance for an extraordinary evening celebrating art, community, healing, and the power of movement to bring us closer together. Our Season 2026 Gala will celebrate a year of artistic evolution and community impact while honoring three remarkable forces whose work has contributed to the journey of FJK Dance and the wider dance community.

Honoring Gina Gibney & Gibney Dance

FJK Dance is proud to honor Gina Gibney and Gibney Dance for their extraordinary support, mentorship, and contribution to the creative development of Fadi Joseph Khoury’s interactive solo work, DABKE. Through this partnership; the moving towards justice fellowship, DABKE has continued to evolve as a deeply personal and participatory exploration of Middle Eastern dance, identity, heritage, storytelling, and community.

The work invites audiences not simply to watch, but to move, learn, and share in the experience of Dabke as a living tradition.

Celebrating “Patient’s Pathway” at Kings County Hospital

The evening will also celebrate the fruition of FJK Dance’s long-standing community outreach work at NYC Health + Hospitals / Kings County and the creation of Patient’s Pathway, Fadi Joseph Khoury’s large-scale mural transforming the hospital’s central underground connecting hallway. Inspired by dance and movement, the mural emerged from years of listening, observing, and creating alongside hospital staff and patients. Its abstract lines, colors, and flowing composition are woven with the energy of care, resilience, and human connection that defines the hospital community.

Patient’s Pathway represents a vision in which art is not simply placed inside a hospital, but becomes woven into the fabric of the institution—an artistic journey inspired by the people who move through it every day.

Honoring the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries

FJK Dance will also honor the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries for its profound contribution to the health, longevity, and well-being of dancers in New York City and beyond. Their dedication to supporting dancers throughout their careers reflects the essential relationship between artistic expression, physical health, and sustainable dance practice.

Performance: “To Heart”

The evening will feature FJK Dance dancers performing To Heart, a multimedia contemporary dance work inspired by the poetry of Rumi.

Through movement, music, visual art, and storytelling, the work takes audiences on a heartfelt journey toward love, connection, and oneness.

The Gala will conclude with a celebratory reception, bringing together artists, community members, supporters, healthcare advocates, and friends of FJK Dance.

Come celebrate with us.
Your presence and support mean so much to every member of FJK Dance and help make possible a future where dance, visual art, cultural dialogue, and community care can continue to meet and inspire one another.
