season 2025

On June 17-18, 2025 FJK Dance presented at New York Live Arts Theater, in New York City. An extraordinary celebration of art and humanity, showcasing Khoury’s visionary choreography that bridges cultural divides and challenges societal norms. This season highlighted three compelling works that exemplify Khoury’s commitment to peacebuilding and inclusivity.

Fadi Joseph Khoury is a choreographer, dancer, and visual artist whose work blends contemporary dance, ballet, and Arabic folkloric movement into a deeply expressive and immersive language. Rooted in his upbringing in Iraq and Lebanon and shaped by classical training, his choreography explores identity, belonging, and the healing power of art. Fadi’s multidisciplinary practice often incorporates live painting, transforming performance into a living canvas and inviting audiences into the act of creation. Centered on empathy, storytelling, and community engagement, his work transcends form to foster connection, cultural dialogue, and shared humanity.

DABKE” is a one-hour, interactive solo performance by queer Arab American choreographer and visual artist Fadi Joseph Khoury, celebrating the rich and unapologetic expression of Middle Eastern and Arab heritage through traditional dance, music, and storytelling. Deeply rooted in Fadi’s personal immigrant journey and formative dance training in Lebanon and Iraq, this work embraces the beauty and power of folkloric traditions—particularly Dabke, a social and celebratory line dance shared across the Levant. The audience will have the opportunity to learn Dabke and participate with Fadi on the dance floor.

“ Khoury unanimously tells his truth as an Arab-American creator while challenging cultural stereotypes. He reminds communities how movement has the power to heal, unifying people of all backgrounds through outreach and performances. "
