Join us and meet the artists and collaborators of Fadi J Khoury’s new creation.

FJK Black Box events include repertory excerpts and a preview of the new work in progress followed by a talk back with the artists to share the creative process.

June 6th program will include Forbidden ; when love is locked and the key is inside.

About the musicians:

Gilbert Mansour (Percussion)

Berklee College of Music graduate percussionist, Gilbert Mansour has performed with The Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra and accompanied various renowned Middle Eastern artists around the world. Played on the Middle Eastern version of ‘The Voice’ and " The Idol". Mansour has shared the stage with many acclaimed artists such as Luis Enrique, Simon Shaheen, Marcel Khalife, Trio Joubran, Pepe De Lucia, Gian Marco, Javier Limon, Susana Bacca.

Valeriya Sholokhova (Cello)

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, Valeriya Sholokhova is a graduate of The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music, where she was a full scholarship student of Bonnie Hampton and David Geber. Valeriya is a laureate of several international competitions and has participated in several summer music festivals, such as The Perlman Music Program, Kronberg Academy, Spoleto Festival USA, Orchestra of the Americas, and Thy Music Festival, where she served as principal cellist. An in-demand freelancer, Valeriya is currently the principal cellist with Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, Mimesis Ensemble, and New York Metamorphoses. In her free time, she enjoys travel, languages, and photography.

Melody Fader (Piano)

Pianist Melody Fader enjoys a busy career as a soloist, chamber musician, vocal and dance accompanist. She has performed in such iconic New York venues as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and internationally in Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Guatemala, Chile, Canada and Italy. Ms. Fader is the founder, artistic director, and pianist for her Melody and Company Chamber Series ensemble, that recently won grants from both the Queens Council on the Arts and the Puffin Foundation. Her first commercial album, Music of Frederic Chopin, was released in February 2012 on Centaur Records and she is currently working on her second album. For two seasons Ms. Fader served as company pianist and soloist for Dance Theatre of Harlem, touring extensively with the company. She is the resident pianist with New Chamber Ballet for their annual performance cycle at New York’s City Center, and has also performed with Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Buglisi Dance Theater and the New York Theater Ballet and Stars of American Ballet. Ms. Fader was a prize winner at both the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition and the Aspen Concerto Competition, leading to solo as well as chamber music performances throughout the U.S. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at the Juilliard School, where she studied with Margo Garrett.
