Sayuri Tanabe

Sayuri Tanabe was born in Kanagawa, Japan. Since moving to New York in 2008, she has participated in summer intensive including New York University and the Hofesh Shector Company and performed in the works of choreographers Juan Rodriguez and Seyoung Kim a couple of years later. Since 2012, She has been working with Sae Nagamatsu and proactively performed charity performances for the Great East Japan earthquake disaster and contributed to the reconstruction. As a dancer, she has performed many pieces and worked with designer Akiko Elizabeth Maie of fashion brand Nepenthes.  She is also participating in a project sponsored by the Japanese consulate led by Jazz composer Migiwa Miyajima, which had been planned before the pandemic.
