Ayah (آية) is the title of the new work in progress for our new journey in FJK Dance Season 2024, it means "falcon" or "vulture" in Hebrew. In the Bible, this is the name of the father of Rizpah as well as the son of Zibeon. In Arabic it literally means "miracle" or "a sign from God". In the Quran (Islamic holy book), a verse is called an Ayah. This new work reflects on the healing impact of the performing art experience, taking inspiration from ancient ceremonial practice where musical rhythm and heartbeat connect with the breath. We will present the choreographic work integrated with live painting to music by the composer Jan Paul Werge, and exhibit samples of the costume design and other visual elements in the production.
